Reflections


As it is New Years Day I am feeling in a reflective mood. As always I am thinking about New Years resolutions, but more importantly I am reflecting over the past year and everything that has happened. I have really enjoyed my role as Community Pastor and studying for a degree and can’t believe that by the summer of 2021 I will be ordained. It has been a year of much change with Leon going off to Uni and Iris leaving School and starting College.

I think that my main resolution for 2020 is to have more fun as I have been so manically busy in 2019. I also want to get better at my guitar and write songs. Happy New Year.

The smell of toast...

Yesterday was the first Tea and Toast Church of the year. As I looked around the room there were children colouring in and eating toast and chatting and people of all ages joining in conversations together around tables. It reminded me of community I had known growing up in a small village, which I thought was lost forever. The smell of toast filled the air which somehow had a homely feel.    It had been an encouraging week as Tony, a neighbour and regular at Tea and Toast, who is a published author had written a wonderful poem about it and shown it to me. I will share it on here once it is published. Later at "Tea and Toast" I had the pleasure of singing with Kim who is also a regular who took the worship music to a whole new level. She is an incredible singer/songwriter, which is the gift she has been given by God. At the end of the service she surprised me with a song she had written about me which was so emotional to hear. First steps as a pioneer

I first felt called to Haywood Village soon after it started to be built in 2013 when it was just green fields and a few houses going up. I found it inexplicable why I kept finding myself driving there and walking my dog there. It seemed to have a magnetic pull for me. Eventually I realised that God was calling me there. I gathered a team of people and started Take 5 in September 2016 which is a pop-up community café in Haywood Village Academy, held every Tuesday afternoon for the whole community.   In April 2017 we launched Tea and Toast Church. It is a low key and family friendly café style Church held once a month. I moved to Haywood Village in July 2018 following God’s orders! I really felt that he provided a house ideal for community events.
